Devotional meetings are gatherings where Bahá’ís and their friends and families unite with one another in prayer. Meetings consist mostly of reading prayers and passages from the Bahá’í sacred texts and listening to music. There are no rituals, and these meetings are held in an informal yet respectful atmosphere.
In Townsville, Devotional Meetings are held at people’s homes, work places, and the Bahá’í Centre. Often inspirational readings from all religions’ sacred writings and sometimes audiovisual presentations are offered to engender a spiritual atmosphere conducive to relaxation and meditation. These meetings are not for discussions on religious topics and they are designed to be all-embracing and non-confrontational.
